Giving Tuesdays

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration.

Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving.

Read their Missions:

“The Mission of the Animal Shelter of Crawford County, Inc. is to provide shelter, care, and adoption services for homeless animals, to guarantee life to all healthy animals, sick, injured or vicious animals where medical or behavioral intervention would give a poor or grave prognosis; and to provide information about the benefits of spaying and neutering all animals.”

Our shelter is rated #5 in the State of Michigan for a no-kill shelter by The Best Things in Michigan (bestthingsmi.com). We have made great strides in adoptions in 2018 exceeding any other year in history. Current year to date numbers as of November 1st we have found loving homes for 135 dogs and 65 cats. This is greatly influenced by obtaining animals from caring shelters out of our areas. We have rescued all these animals to find their forever homes in Crawford County and beyond. In 2018 we have had 55 animals returned to owners. The shelter has not euthanized any animal in 2018 and our goal is to keep this number at zero!

We are a non-profit shelter with no millage and/or we are a non-tax payer funded agency. We rely strictly on donations and fundraisers to stay alive to fund the daily operations of the shelter. So any gift you could contribute to help keep our mission alive is greatly appreciated.

Fall 2018 the shelter has started a community foundation to provide a gift that keeps giving. We would like to ask when you are doing your estate planning or making a gifting decision, please think of AVAS. Your donation is totally tax deductible as we are a 501C3 Corporation. These funds will be placed with the Northeast Michigan Community Foundation and placed in an endowed account so the principle will not be accessible but will continue to grow to help assist the future of the shelter. There is a percentage of the fund that can be used for daily operations every year. We can accept property, cash, checks, publicly-traded securities, gifts of tangible property, and various charitable trust instruments. These are a few examples of how the funds can be used to help offset operating expenses for AVAS. Please keep the shelter in mind so we can continue our mission in providing forever homes to these loving and caring animals! Thank you so much for your support!

The Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center’s mission is to advocate and promote the well-being and independence of all older adults of Crawford County. We are able to do this through our In-Home Services including Bathing Assistance, Respite Care and Homemaking; Advocacy & Medicare/Medicaid Counseling; Senior Center Activities including Fitness Classes and Congregate Lunch & Dinner Meals. In addition to these services, one of our most vital programs is Meals on Wheels providing over 530 meals a week to homebound older adults in the Crawford County area. With your help, we can reach our goal to make where we live the place we love to be. Give online and support the Commission on Aging & Senior Center November 27th during this year’s Giving Tuesday Movement at www.cfnem.org.

Crawford AuSable Day Care & Preschool is licensed by the State of Michigan to provide childcare for children 2 1/2 years - 12 years of age. We offer full-time childcare with an educational preschool program for children 2 1/2 - 5 years of age. For the school-age child, we provide before and after school care as well as a fun-filled summertime program. We have been proudly serving our community since 1980. We are currently looking at options to expand our capacity and be able to provide infant and toddler care. All monies raised will go into our programs and directly benefit all the children who currently attend or will attend CADC in the future!
