Fire Safety Presentation

Join Justin Wethington, a highly experienced firefighter from the Grayling City Township Fire Department, on Thursday, October 25th at 5:45 pm for a fire safety presentation. Justin will explore various safety options from the importance of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, portable fire extinguishers, cooking safety, home escape plans to what to expect when you call 911. Fire Safety Saves Lives! Join us for a Chicken Cordon Bleu dinner served between 4:30pm and 5:30pm prior to the presentation. Dinner is a $3.00 suggested donation for those people age 60 and older and the cost for a person under 60 is $5.00. Chair Yoga

Sit to get fit! This month Chair Yoga is October 25th at 6pm at the Crawford County Commission on Aging & Senior Center. Chair Yoga aims to give you the experience of classical yoga, even if you have mobility issues or find regular yoga challenging. It will help improve flexibility, strength, balance, and focus. Join, instructor, Nicole Wethington, and enjoy the many benefits of yoga without sitting or lying on the floor. This class is free and open to the public. Helping you Plan for the Future

The Commission on Aging & Senior Center is hosting a presentation for older adults and their caregivers to help them plan for the future. October 25th the topic is Advance Directives. Join Steve Peterson of Munson Healthcare Grayling Hospital where he will discuss the importance of having an advance directive. If time permits he will also help you fill out one. The presentation will be held at the Nature Center in Grayling from 1pm-3pm. If you have any questions call Karl Schreiner- 989-348-7123.

Sanctuary Lecture Series: Lake Huron’s Tuskegee Ai

During the middle years of World War II, Michigan was selected as a place for advanced training for African-American Army Air Force units that had graduated from the Tuskegee pilot training program. Unfortunately, as with many similar training programs during World War II, dozens of accidents occurred resulting in the loss of both aircraft and crewmen. Two Tuskegee airplanes have been found in Lake Huron. State Maritime Archaeologist, Wayne Lusardi, will share documenting the sites and the pilot’s stories. Free Admission
