Tart Trails Fundraiser

From 1:00PM to 4:00PM

This week marks the launch of the public fundraising campaign to complete the loop around Boardman Lake. To date over $450,000 in private capital has been raised for the project. The campaign goal is to raise and additional $150,000 which will support final construction for the last 1.8 mile of trail, a project 30 years in the making.
The public is invited to join TART Trails board, staff, and members of the campaign cabinet at a public launch party to help kick off the campaign. The event is Sunday, June 24 from 1-4 PM at the Filling Station and will include a TC Track Club Fun Run at 11 AM, free kayak tour at 1:00 PM, and live music by Mike Moran and friends. Plus great food and drinks with proceeds benefitting completion efforts.
TART Trails is working with governmental partners at the City of Traverse City, Garfield Township, and Grand Traverse County to complete the final segment of the Boardman Lake Loop. The proposed 1.8 mile segment along the west side of the lake will finish the five mile trail encircling Boardman Lake, which was first conceptualized more than 25 years ago with a trail master plan funded by the Coastal Zone Management Program.
Anyone with questions about the event or the process can contact TART Trails’ office for information at (231) 941-4300 or stay tuned on the project website:

ACS Relay for Life Antrim Charlevoix

The Annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life event for Antrim & Charlevoix Counties will be held on Saturday & Sunday June 23rd and 24th. Relay is a 24 hour event and will take place from 10 AM Saturday until 10 AM Sunday. This year’s Relay schedule is full of fun activities, great entertainment, and ceremonies to celebrate cancer survivors & caregivers and honor and remember those whom have lost their battle. This year’s theme is Carnival for a Cause and each participating team will have a Carnival themed game or games where participants can win prizes. In addition there will be inflatable games like bounce houses and slides. Tommy Tropic headlines this year’s entertainment with other live performances, DJ’s and karaoke scheduled throughout the event. The survivor/caregiver ceremony and community potluck begin at 6 PM Saturday and an outdoor movie with free pizza closes out Day 1at Dusk. Sunday morning begins with a pancake breakfast before closing ceremonies. All are invited to attend and there is no charge for admission, the community potluck, pizza & a movie or the pancake breakfast. Teams will be fundraising by charging a very nominal fee to participate in the games for prizes and for the inflatable’s. The 2018 Relay for Life combines teams and participants from both Antrim and Charlevoix counties. Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s most successful fundraiser and the organization's signature event. Relays serve to increase awareness, recognize and celebrate survivors and caregivers, remember those who lost the cancer battle, and encourage grassroots involvement in the fight against cancer. The funds raised play a significant role in helping accomplish many of the Society’s recent accomplishments.
