June 23 is the 5k run/walk for shelter benefiting the Goodwill Inn Homeless Shelter, the course runs through Grand Traverse Bay into Hickory Meadows Natural Area before returning back to Willow Hill.
The run for shelter starts and finishes at Willow Hill Elementary 1250 Hill St. Traverse City, Mi
Registration and packet pick up are held between 8 to 8:45 am in the cafeteria, the race starts at 9 am. Cost of the run is 35 dollars if registered by June 17th, price increases to $40 day of. Kids 10 and under are free. Register by June 15th and you'll be entered to win a one night stay at Greektown casino/hotel in Detroit AND two tickets to the Henry Ford/Greenfield Village in Dearborn.
$35 registration fee will support one night of shelter for someone in need, which includes two meals, basic necessities, and resources to secure jobs and permanent housing. If you can't attend please donate to http://www.goodwillnmi.org/
The AuSable Valley Engine & Tractor Club annual show is on June 22 and 23, 2018 (Friday & Saturday) at the lovely wooded Oscoda County Fairgrounds on Caldwell Road off of M33 between Mio and Fairview. Hours - 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Featuring tractor & machine exhibits, gas engines & related machinery, tractor & kids games with prizes, flea market, swap meet, craft vendors, tractor pulling, and tractor parade. One free ticket to each child 2 to 7 for a peddle tractor to be given away each day. All farm equipment exhibitors, flea market, craft and swap meet vendors are welcome and it is N/C to set up or exhibit even for non-members. Rustic camping is available. Some sites with electric. The Annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life event for Antrim & Charlevoix Counties will be held on Saturday & Sunday June 23rd and 24th. Relay is a 24 hour event and will take place from 10 AM Saturday until 10 AM Sunday. This year’s Relay schedule is full of fun activities, great entertainment, and ceremonies to celebrate cancer survivors & caregivers and honor and remember those whom have lost their battle. This year’s theme is Carnival for a Cause and each participating team will have a Carnival themed game or games where participants can win prizes. In addition there will be inflatable games like bounce houses and slides. Tommy Tropic headlines this year’s entertainment with other live performances, DJ’s and karaoke scheduled throughout the event. The survivor/caregiver ceremony and community potluck begin at 6 PM Saturday and an outdoor movie with free pizza closes out Day 1at Dusk. Sunday morning begins with a pancake breakfast before closing ceremonies. All are invited to attend and there is no charge for admission, the community potluck, pizza & a movie or the pancake breakfast. Teams will be fundraising by charging a very nominal fee to participate in the games for prizes and for the inflatable’s. The 2018 Relay for Life combines teams and participants from both Antrim and Charlevoix counties. Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s most successful fundraiser and the organization's signature event. Relays serve to increase awareness, recognize and celebrate survivors and caregivers, remember those who lost the cancer battle, and encourage grassroots involvement in the fight against cancer. The funds raised play a significant role in helping accomplish many of the Society’s recent accomplishments.
Fellowship Church will be hosting a breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, June 23rd from 9:00 am to 11:00 am The breakfast will honor the nephew of a family attending Fellowship Church. Brandon, who died by suicide a decade ago is greatly missed by those who loved him. Brandon’s family and friends, together with Fellowship Church would like to bring awareness to suicide prevention in our community. Please Join us for good food and help raise money for the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention and honor the life of Brandon.

Looking for a volunteer opportunity? The Crawford County Commission on Aging is looking for a Volunteer Stock person to help with putting away food deliveries. This person would need to be available Monday and Thursday starting around 10:30am for approximately 2 hours and be able to lift up to 45lbs. A criminal background check is required.
