Health Department Hepatitis A Walk-In Vaccination

Most insurance plans cover immunizations; call your insurance company to make sure your vaccines will be covered at the health department.  If you want the Hepatitis A vaccine and do not have insurance, call for costs or other billing options.  Some may qualify for free vaccine.  If you need more information, call 989-773-5921 ext. 1405.


TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – For Release Wednesday, January 17, 2018 – Michigan's only live TV variety show, Picnic at the Opera, is proud to announce its dynamic Sixth Season.
Picnic at the Opera kicks off at Traverse City's City Opera House on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, and runs every Wednesday in February. Free to the community, join hosts Miriam Pico and David Chown from noon to 1 p.m. for a fast-paced hour filled with seven live guest performances. A true live TV variety show, guest performers change weekly, and patrons are part of the studio audience, experiencing the behind-the-scenes action of camera booms, live audience shots, cue cards, set changes and more.
Admission is free. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.; seating is first to come, first served. Each live show runs from noon to 1 p.m. Guests are welcome to bring a lunch. Come for 20 minutes or stay for the whole hour.

The Crawford County Community Garden is looking to revitalize the Community Garden in Grayling. The first step will be filling the volunteer position for a Community Garden Manager.  The manager’s responsibilities will be to organize and facilitate the gardeners and resources, paying attention to the details of the garden while staying acquainted with opportunities in the surrounding community.  Those who are interested in this opportunity and would like the full job description can go to or stop by the Commission on Aging and Senior Center and pick one up.  The Senior Center is located at 308 Lawndale St., Grayling. A number of community leaders are embarking on the possible development of a community center to serve area residents and visitors. This would include space for a new Senior Center located within the new Community Center. The development team would like your input into how you might meet your friends and neighbors at the center and what amenities and activities you would like included in the facility. Please take a few minutes to respond to some questions which will help us design a center that works for everyone community wide. The survey can be accessed on line at

"Not Alone" Breanna's Ride Documentary

  Breanna's Ride presents this event which consists of the 50-minute documentary, "Not Alone"; along with

  speakers Wayne McPhall (from Breann's Ride), Derek Johnson and some ofhis Board Certified staff from

  Great Lakes TTC.


  This film is based on interviews with teenagers who dealt with abuse, depression, bulling and suicide.  IT depicts how they found help and hope, through life-saving resources and tools.  There will be a question

 and answers session at the end for those wanting to participate.
