Grand Traverse County Household Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Event – May 10 Grand Traverse County, MI (May 1, 2018) – Mark your calendars! It’s time for the next Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event. Got old paint, cleaners and pesticides? Bring them for safe disposal to the next household hazardous waste (HHW) event in Grand Traverse County. County residents may bring up to 150 pounds of HHW material, at no cost. (A $1.30 per pound fee applies for quantities after 150 pounds.) Mark your calendar and make your appointment for Thursday May 10. The event runs from 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm. HHW drop-off events are by appointment only. Appointments can be made using the online scheduling system at or by calling the RecycleSmart Hotline at 231-941-5555.! Subsequent events will be held June 21, August 9 and Saturday September 29. Items accepted at the HHW collection events include such things as oil-based paint, solvents, automotive fluids, household cleaners, lawn and garden chemicals, batteries, and fluorescent light bulbs. Find a complete list of acceptable material at Small businesses, organizations and schools may qualify to dispose of hazardous waste at the RecycleSmart drop-off events.  The Crawford County Commission on Aging is having a "Mothers Day Dinner", no reservations required.
