  All Day PICNIC AT THE OPERA REVEALS SEASON 6  
TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – For Release Wednesday, January 17, 2018 – Michigan's only live TV variety show, Picnic at the Opera, is proud to announce its dynamic Sixth Season.
 
Picnic at the Opera kicks off at Traverse City's City Opera House on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, and runs every Wednesday in February. Free to the community, join hosts Miriam Pico and David Chown from noon to 1 p.m. for a fast-paced hour filled with seven live guest performances. A true live TV variety show, guest performers change weekly, and patrons are part of the studio audience, experiencing the behind-the-scenes action of camera booms, live audience shots, cue cards, set changes and more.
 
Admission is free. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.; seating is first to come, first served. Each live show runs from noon to 1 p.m. Guests are welcome to bring a lunch. Come for 20 minutes or stay for the whole hour.

The Crawford County Community Garden is looking to revitalize the Community Garden in Grayling. The first step will be filling the volunteer position for a Community Garden Manager.  The manager’s responsibilities will be to organize and facilitate the gardeners and resources, paying attention to the details of the garden while staying acquainted with opportunities in the surrounding community.  Those who are interested in this opportunity and would like the full job description can go to www.crawfordcoa.org/volunteer or stop by the Commission on Aging and Senior Center and pick one up.  The Senior Center is located at 308 Lawndale St., Grayling. McLaren Northern Michigan will host free community Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training on Wednesday, February 28 at the Otsego County Sportsplex from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. in recognition of American Heart Month.

 

Training and demonstration will be led by a CPR specialist. Topics covered include adult chest compression, child chest compression and rescue breathing, infant chest compression and rescue breathing, and choking rescue for all ages. Each demonstration will take approximately 15 minutes. Also known as Family & Friends® CPR, course content is specifically geared toward community response to emergencies. The course is educational only and will not include a certification. Participants will receive complimentary educational materials.  

 

Community members are encouraged to attend to receive basic knowledge and hands-on training. No reservation is required.
