FUNDAMENTALS OF ESTATE PLANNING
Nearly 60 percent of Americans don’t have a will or estate plan, according to a caring.com survey, and those that do have a will or estate plan often do not update the plans to reflect life changes or current needs and values.
Take some time this month to learn how to prepare for the unexpected and ensure that your family and the assets that you’ve worked for are protected.
A free estate planning seminar will be offered from 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27 at Independence Village, located at 965 Hagar Street in Petoskey. A panel of speakers, Robert F. Boesiger, Attorney with Boesiger Law Firm, David Farley, Senior Vice President, Investments with Grannis Farley Wealth Management, and Andrea Cherry, Social Worker with McLaren Northern Michigan, will provide:
- Insights on the key elements of an estate plan
- Tips for keeping your plan current through personal legal changes
- Considerations when transferring assets to the people and causes that you care about
- Assistance to ensure that your wishes are known through the Advance Care Planning process
